Runaway
Definition:
Is when someone leave home for many reasons like family problems included violence, and maybe because they want better things on their life.Is important know that many teens run away because of drug and alcohol abuse. When teens and pre-teens get involved in this type of abuse, they take the decitio to leave home to hide it so their parents don’t find out. These kids are often using a lot more than their parents know; they want to use more freely and openly, so they run away.
Reasons of runaways
Nowadays the most common reason for teens running away is again, for the family problems. This include fights between them, alson the money, the house´s rule.
Teens also run away to try to escape the fears like having a lot of problems in schools, being bullied or dealing with a unplanned pregnancy.Also the alcohol, drugs play a role in teen´s running away.
Remember, kids run away from problems they can’t handle. It’s in our culture. Adolescents often see running away as a way to achieve a sense of power and independence.
Here other reasons for running away:
- Abuse (violence in the family)
- Parents separating or divorcing or the arrival of a new stepparent.
- Family financial worries
- Kids or parents drinking alcohol or taking drugs.
Consequences
Many children who run away find themselves in extremely risky situations for which they are completely unprepared.
Main consequences of running away:
- Sexual abuse and exploitation
- Drugs and alcohol
- Homelessness
Throwaway
Definition
Is when someone is obligated to leave home for adictions of alcohol or drugs, also for the family problems.
Reasons of throwaway
There is going to be all kinds of reason as to why today’s society is
like it is. And something that at least supports this way of life, if
not created it, is the avoidance of emotional pain. In this instance,
these external objects and even people, are being used to regulate how
one feels and as soon as their affect wears off, another thing is needed
to change how one feels
Also the main reason for throwing away is when the teenagers have problems with alcohol an especially drugs, for that reason they are obligate to leave home.Consequences
- Greater risk of severe anxiety and depression, suicide, poor health and nutrition, and low self-esteem.
- Increased likelihood of exchanging sex for food, clothing and shelter ( also known as "survival sex") or dealing drugs to meet basic needs. Forty percent of African American youth and 36 percent of Caucasian youth who experienced homelessness or life on the street sold drugs, primarily marijuana, for money.
